How to get MitID

You can, among other things, use MitID to transfer money, online banking or to log in to borger.dk and skat.dk. In this article we will help you get your MitID. If you are a member of 3F, you can also get help from your local branch. How to get your MitID

To obtain MitID, you must verify your identity to prevent fraud. Here are the ways to get MitID:

  • With a passport/ID card: Use your valid passport or ID card along with a phone that can scan it.
  • At a Citizen Service Centre: If you can't scan your ID, visit a Citizen Service Centre with valid documentation. You may need to answer questions or bring a witness to verify your identity. This is recommended for foreigners or those living outside Denmark, as there may not be enough information in the CPR register.

If you don’t have a CPR number
If you don't have a CPR number, use a P code, an 8-digit code, in the MitID app instead. Note that most self-service solutions currently require a CPR number, so a MitID created with a P code cannot access them.

Remember that you must never give your MitID to anyone. Not to your accountant, not to your employer, not even to your trade union. If you suspect that your personal MitID has been misused, you must immediately contact MitID support, and at the same time block your MitID on MitID.dk.
